Fun and Interesting Events and Things to Do in our West Valley for Sunday, February 10, 2013

Happy Chinese New Year! This year, the new year will be the year of the Snake, a Water Snake actually.  The Chinese New Year is often referred to as the "Lunar New Year". Because at least three different years numbered 1 are now used by various scholars, making the year we call 2013 AD is the "Chinese Year" 4711, 4710, or 4650.  On the Chinese Calendar, this year begins on February 10, 2013, and ends on January 30, 2014.  So it’s time to enjoy Lion dances, fireworks, family gatherings and amazing meals, visiting with friends and relatives, giving red envelopes, and decorating with duilian.  Let's Party like it's 4711, because it is!  Could be a good year for the D-Backs too this being the year of the Snake and all!

Today is  National Cream Cheese Brownie Day!  We guarantee that if you bring homemade cream cheese brownies to work today, they'll be gone before lunch. That's because we will be waiting for you. With a fork and a glass of milk.

Today is also Umbrella Day!  Brolly, gamp, parasol, bumbershoot - whatever you call it, umbrellas are made for one thing - protecting you from the elements. As you go out into the world today, don't forget your brolly! It might just save your look and your health.
